SPEAKER INTRODUCTION

CIBS is always striving to educate and keep our members and industry guests informed of new tools and technology whenever possible. In doing so, we have invited PAMELA SEALES of LinkedIn to be our guest speaker at today’s luncheon.

Myo invited Ray Fegghi, General Program Chairperson, to the podium to introduce Pamela and provide us with her background.

Pamela spoke about benefit of utilizing LinkedIn for representing your company and returns of personal branding. It can create opportunity for members of the global work force.

• She started by describing what personal branding is.

• LinkedIn is a 500,000-member network that can create opportunity for members in the global work force.

• She said how it’s a good idea to add a note when connecting with someone to personalize the connection.

• Viewing profiles is the number one activity. Use the system to your advantage but be reasonably cautious.

• The focus is to connect, less so for job hunting. Someone mentioned they only use LinkedIn as a source for hiring.

• Be careful of spammers and whom you connect with.  One can delete connections if needed.

• In your profile do a summary that details who you are and what you do professionally.

• Outline work experience and update often with any changes.

• Do recommendations and include volunteer work.

• Strengthen your network; seventy percent of jobs come thru networking.

• Follow companies you’re interested in and engage in content and news.

Myo thanked Pamela said she would be available for questions after the meeting.
